An alum tells their #WalkaboutWorks story. #rethinkhighschool @xqamerica #lifechanging #education #experiential #student #challenge "I cannot articulate enough about how much the Walkabout Program has changed my life forever, for the better. I once was a super-introverted and depressed teen with so much potential, but not enough support. My year at Walkabout truly brought me to life. They introduced me to one of my greatest loves: backpacking, and I have since hiked the entire Appalachian Trail as well as the Camino de Santiago in Spain. They allowed me to dive deep into creative writing. I have since been an avid reader and writer of poetry. My teachers, all with such big hearts and supreme mental, as well as emotional intelligence, have instilled in me the necessity to find deep meaning in my life and reach for whatever it is that I'm called to do, that enriches me and empowers others. Because of this I have led a fairly unconventional life of travel and held a number of experiential jobs. I have thus become a jack-of-all-trades. I am thrilled Walkabout is so close to coming back with proper funding and I support them all the way!"

These #Boots are Made for Walkin'... It's the title of a song recorded by #NancySinatra in 1966, and covered more than 10 times since then. It's also a big theme in #walkaboutprogram history and we will soon begin collecting pictures of #alumni boots and their #life stories of #walking about after graduation...
